Welcome to Cake and Caramel Co.
When we realized that each of our mothers had given us a Kitchen Aid mixer for our MBA graduation (we have awesome moms!), we knew we wanted to combine our business backgrounds with something creative. Having been interested in the food scene, issues of sustainability and 'real' foods, baking and the craft of caramels, as well as design, Cake and Caramel Co. seemed a natural fit. As a new company, we have big plans (we wish we could share them with you right now!), and would love for you to follow along.
We strive to bring you delicious and pretty treats, incorporating a consciousness of sourcing in our ingredients.
Real butter. Real eggs. Real ingredients. Nothing you wouldn't make at home yourself.
Courtney has been making caramels with her mom as long as she can remember, sharing a laugh and a glass of wine while making each unique piece by hand. It still remains one of her favorite activities, when she isn't searching for the perfect cheese or Napa Valley red. Outside the world of caramels (is there such a thing?!), Courtney has conducted a study determining the accessibility of fresh food to low income families in the Santa Clara and San Mateo Counties, launched a new beer brand, and has a background in business and public health.
Baking since a young age, Celia has been inspired by Germany's rich cake tradition (kaffee und kuchen, anyone?), as well as the baking of her grandmother. She has a special fondness for simple yet sweet small cakes, cupcakes, tarts, and pies, as well as photography and flowers. Having lived and worked in four countries, Celia has had the opportunity to sample baked treats around the globe. She has previously assisted both small and large companies with marketing strategies and international expansions.
